The Austin gymnastics team put up it’s best score of the season at the YMCA in Austin Tuesday, and it’s still hoping to do better as the season rolls along.
The Packers posted a 139.85, which was well ahead of Rochester Century, which scored a 125.77, Rochester John Marshall, which scored a 108.275, and Rochester Mayo, which scored a 47.275.
“We’re feeling pretty good about where we are and we’re staying healthy while still working on skills in the gym,” Austin head coach Mark Raymond said. “We’d like to increase our scores and get a little more greedy as the season goes on.”
Austin’s Sela Fadness was first in all-around, Carolyn Hackel was fourth and Abby Bickler was fifth.
The Packers, who are ranked No. 5 in Class ‘A’, are starting to think about the ‘true team’ state meet, which takes place Jan. 28. To qualify for that meet, Austin would have to be ranked in the top-10 as of Jan. 20.
Austin’s JV team took third overall on Tuesday with a score of 125.100, that was less than a point behind second-place Century.
