The Southland boys basketball team put together a late flurry, but it wasn’t enough as Caledonia (6-4 overall, 4-3 Three Rivers) beat them with a driving shot at the buzzer in Caledonia Thursday.
The Rebels (7-3 overall, 5-2 Three Rivers) scored six straight points in a span of just over a minute to tie the game at 40 with 20 seconds left, but the Warriors’ final shot made it 42-40 as the buzzer sounded.
“It was quite a game but they got the last shot,” Southland head coach Jon Thalberg said. “The kids played their hearts out and it’s too bad we had to take the loss.”
Southland 21 19 — 40
Caledonia 16 26 — 42
Southland scoring: Mike Goergen, 20; Nick Schmitz, 8; Jake Frodl, 7; Chris Wolff, 3; Decker Bendtsen, 2
