It took a little awhile, but the Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team eventually found its rhythm in a 59-31 over LeRoy-Ostrander in Pacelli Gym Thursday.
The Athletics (4-3 overall, 2-2 SEC) led just 28-21 at the half, but they held the Cards (1-9 overall, 0-6 SEC) to 10 points in the second half. L-P finished the game on a 17-4 run.
“We came in overconfident and LeRoy out-worked us in the first half,” LP head coach Casey Anderson said. “In the second half we started running our offense and things went better.”
David Diang had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Athletics, who finished the have now won four in a row.
“It’s good that we won, but we didn’t play as well as we would like too,” Diang said. “But overall, it feels like we’re playing more and more like a team each game. The Schaeffer loss brought us down, but the Triton win brought us back up.”
The Cardinals had just four players score and two of them — Zach Roysten and Mitch Scaglione — were saddled with foul trouble.
“We played good in the first half but in the second half we didn’t rebound very well and their pressure got to us,” L-O head coach Jason Jude said.
