An Austin woman who allegedly stole her mother’s car, which reportedly led police to an underage drinking party, was charged Tuesday in Mower County District Court.

Nyakier James Thiach, 19, faces one count of felony vehicle theft and two misdemeanor charges of driving after suspension and minor consumption. According to court documents, Thiach was sentenced to jail time in November for burglary.

According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers found the reportedly stolen 2001 red Dodge Caravan in the 500 block of Fifth Avenue NW. Nyachieng Rolkier, 40, reported the vehicle stolen by her daughter, Thiach, around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle was located about an hour after the report was taken.

Thiach is scheduled to enter her plea on Dec. 22.
