The Grand Meadow boys snuck past Medford Tuesday night, 57-54 at their own tournament in Grand Meadow.

Grand Meadow tried several times to put distance between them and Medford (2-6 overall, 2-3 Gopher), but couldn’t find that comfortable space.

“We built a couple of leads throughout the game but they kept coming back at us,” head coach Chad Burmester said. “We need to start playing smarter basketball and realizing we need to take care of the basketball and continue to play inside out.”

Bryce Benson led the Superlarks (3-3 overall, 3-3 SEC) with 16 points, six rebounds and six blocks with Trenton Bleifus and Andrew Riedemann adding 13 and 12 points respectively.

“Bryce had by far his best game this season and our guys are finally starting to realize that the game is much easier when we get him involved offensively,” Burmester said.

In the tournament’s other game, LeRoy-Ostrander defeated Alden-Conger 50-40.
