The fluffy white stuff may be here to stay.
The National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis., forecasts anywhere from a half-inch to an inch of snow in some places before snowfall tapers off Thursday afternoon. Though the back end of the current low-pressure system is almost past the area, more snow could be coming on Friday night and Saturday night into Sunday morning, according to meteorologist Zack Taylor.
“Today’s storm should be kind of a teaser, and this weekend could be a little more accumulation,” Taylor said.
NWS meteorologists won’t have accurate snowfall predictions until closer to the weekend, but there is potential for significant amounts.
Though Thursday’s highs may get above freezing, conditions will likely dip below 32 degrees and stay there throughout next week, so snow hitting the ground throughout the weekend could be here to stay.
Taylor warned that road conditions could be slippery Thursday night and Friday morning.
“People should probably be advised about that — take a little extra caution,” he said.
NWS also predicts another chance of snow on Monday, with a high of 24.
