Ruth Constance Hardy, 83, of Austin died Sunday evening, Dec. 11, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Austin.

Ruth C. Ellickson was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Grafton, N.D., to William and Laura (Larson) Ellickson. She attended school in Austin, Minn., and graduated from Austin High School in 1947. On Aug. 20, 1949, she married Rolland Hardy at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Ruth was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed antiques and playing bridge. Among being a homemaker, Ruth was employed by the Hormel Company where she worked in the office and the cafeteria.

Survivors include her husband, Rolland of Austin; children, Diane (Duane) Delaney of Austin, Richard (Margaret) Hardy of Santa Barbara, Calif., David (Jean) Hardy of Dodge Center, Minn., Thomas (Kathy) Hardy of Austin; 11 grandchildren, Angela, Brett, Scott, Laura, Matthew, Sarah, Michael, Kevin, Michelle, Dylan, Megan; 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Laura; sister, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Austin, with Rev. Glenn Monson Officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Services are prearranged and will be performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
