The Austin boys hockey team saw a two-goal lead slip away in the third period as it lost to La Crescent 4-3 in overtime Tuesday.
The Lancers (2-2 overall) won the game when Jason Witt scored with 3:06 left in overtime. La Crescent forced overtime when Kilby Ivers scored two penalty shots in the last five minutes of the third period.
Ivers’ tying penalty shot came after he drew a foul on a breakaway with 1:03 left in the game.
“We played pretty well,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said. “We just had some defensive breakdowns. We had some opportunities in overtime, but we couldn’t get the winning goal.”
Ethan Larson and Preston Moe each had a goal and an assist for the Packers (1-1 overall) and Rainer Londino-Green stopped 40 shots in net.
