An Austin man who reportedly choked his ex-girlfriend as they argued over a dog kennel was sentenced Thursday to two years probation for domestic assault.
Jesse Coy Brady, 32, has been in Mower County jail since July 15 and received credit for the time he served. He was also sentenced Thursday to five years probation for a fifth-degree drug possession conviction.
The alleged assault happened July 15, when Brady was moving his belongings out of his ex-girlfriend’s house. According to a court complaint, Brady became confrontational as the two were arguing over a dog kennel.
The woman told police Brady pushed the kennel into her, causing an injury on her arm. He then reportedly grabbed her by the neck and told her he would kill her.
Brady choked the woman for about 10 seconds, to the point she couldn’t breathe, according to the court complaint.
Officers observed red marks on the woman’s neck, arm and back consistent with her claims.
Court documents indicate Brady has domestic assault convictions in 2001 and 2006.
