200-yard freestyle relay also on the way to state

Austin will be sending five swimmers following Friday’s Section 1A swimming and diving meet in Ellis Middle School.

Helen Heimark, a junior, clinched her fourth straight trip to the Class ‘A’ state meet when she swam two-tenths of a second below the state cut time.

Heimark took third, finishing with a time of 2:00.91.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mikayla Finney, Heather Johnson, Merideth Fritz and Heimark also earned a trip with a time of 1:43.41.

The Packers finished sixth as a team with a score of 186 and Northfield won the meet with a 423.
