MAPLEWOOD, Minn. — A lockdown is over at a Maplewood elementary school after police took a student’s relative into custody.
Maplewood Deputy Police Chief David Kvam says the woman had access to a gun, and school officials feared she might try to take the student out of Carver Elementary.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/tdcEUo) reports the lockdown started after the student’s family told the school about the relative’s comments.
During the lockdown, an officer was posted at the school all day and students were not allowed outside for recess.
The lockout ended Wednesday morning. The woman was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
