LeRoy/Ostrander and Mabel/Canton have played each other in the East vs. West match in the SEC for the past four years and this year it was the Cardinals turn to celebrate.

After dropping the annual match to M/C (30-3 overall) the last three times, L/O came through with a 26-24, 16-25, 25-21, 26-24 win in LeRoy Thursday.

“We just never got down and we never stopped,” L/O head coach Lisa Swenson said. “The girls played so good and they really worked as a team.”

Chanda Riedemann finished with 25 kills, Krista Bunne had 32 digs and Megan Grant had 28 assists in the win for the Cardinals (19-10 overall).

The Cougars had swept the Cards in the season opener, but the result was much different this time around.

“This gives us confidence right before the playoffs because we know we can play with anyone,” Swenson said.
