Mankato West’s size was too much for the Austin volleyball team to handle as it fell by scores of 25-7, 25-16, 25-22 in Packer Gym Thursday.

The Scarlets (3-9 overall, 1-2 Big Nine) featured a front line that had two players that were 6 feet, 2 inches tall.

“They’re a pretty impressive team and they can hit the ball,” Austin head coach Barry Brobeck said. “It was an eye opening experience.”

The Packers (1-9 overall, 1-3 Big Nine) connected on 93 percent of their serves as a team and that’s a mark the squad has been aiming at all season.

“We had moments of greatness, but we’ve got to keep on learning,” Brobeck said.
