The Riverland baseball team will he hosting its first annual Alumni game this Saturday at Dick Seltz Field at 3 p.m.

RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said that he’s already gotten some commitments from some of his recent players, but he’d like to see some players from the old Austin Community College teams show up.

The alumni will play a nine-inning game against RCC’s squad for 2011, which has 37 players.

“People have been trying to get me to do this for a few years and it’s a good chance for some of the old guys to come back,” Koenigs said.

There will be a silent auction that includes tickets to the Minnesota Wild’s season opener and a free youth baseball clinic will take place before the game at 2 p.m.

The clinic will teach baseball skills through drills to students in second through eighth grade.

“We’re trying to make this a community event for families as well as our former players,” Koenigs said.
