For the second straight match, the Austin boys soccer team had to settle for a tie against a quality opponent.

In a match that was affected by heavy winds, the Packers scored two second half goals to finish with a 2-2 tie at Como Park (4-1-1 overall) in St. Paul Monday.

“They’re one of the more competitive teams in the state and it was a good showing for us,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “I think if the weather were different, we could’ve controlled the ball more.”

Austin (2-0-2 overall) went against the wind in the first half and allowed two goals. In the second half it used the wind as Jake Hagen-Erickson tied the game off a corner kick from Francisco Torres with five minutes left in the contest.

Barush Terrazas scored Austin’s first goal on a direct kick that he put low and inside the post.

Austin attempted 26 shots and Packer keeper Colin Weisert had six saves.
