Austin area residents will have the chance to dump their fall yard waste at Cook Farm again this year.

City Council members voted to approve the fall yard waste program Tuesday night. The program allows people to dump leaves, grass, flowers and other garden plants at the Cook Farm from Sept. 24 to Nov. 27.

City Engineer Jon Erichson said the site, located at Highway 218 and 27th Ave., will be open seven says a week from dawn to dusk. Compost from the previous year’s waste will be available to the public, as well.

There is no charge for dumping waste, as long as it adheres to the program’s guidelines of leaves, grass and plants.

Erichson said the waste program has been well-received by the public in the past.

Council members approved the program unanimously.
