Antique snowmobile event Saturday at fairgrounds

Though the snow hasn’t accumulated, or even fallen yet, that’s no excuse for snowmobilers to be cooped up.

The Operation Vintage Pride snowmobile event will be at the Mower County fairgrounds this Saturday, and yes, participants will be riding their sleds on grass during the grass. But the grass drag race is only a portion of what’s happening.

The gates open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and among racing there will be a few oddities to see. Snowmobiles from all eras will be on display and some for sale, as a swap meet and silent auction will accompany the festivities.

Enthusiasts who want to swap can set up a site for $20, and those who want to race can do so for $10 per sled entry.

Admission is $5 per person; however, some will get in free: service members. The event is in honor of the military, and all proceeds from the event will go toward care packages for the National Guard, which deployed in the last months.
