An Austin man was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing a Shop-Vac and a carpet cleaner from an apartment at 301 Third St. SE.

Capt. Dave McKichan said the cleaning lady noticed the Shop-Vac and carpet cleaner missing from a closet in the apartment building. The neighbors told her they saw someone with the items in their car, although they didn’t see anyone leaving the building with the items.

The police located the car driving by as they took the burglary report and after speaking with the passengers arrested one man. His name and age were not released.

The Shop-Vac and carpet cleaner were located at another residence. Their total value is around $785.
