Hormel Foods Corp. announced Monday a donation of about 220,000 Hormel Compleats microwave meals to Feeding America to aid in relief efforts following Tropical Storm Irene.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Tropical Storm Irene,” said Julie Craven, vice president of corporate communications at Hormel. “With the clean-up phase underway, we hope these meals are a convenient way to feed those in need.”

This isn’t the first time this year Hormel has donated to a Feeding America food bank, as the company donated 55,000 Compleats meals to Minot, N.D., for flood relief in June and 55,000 for relief efforts in Joplin, Mo. following a series of tornadoes in May. The company also donated $56,000 to the American Red Cross for Japan tsunami relief in March.
