Update: 3 injured in crash

Austin firefighters work at cutting the door off a car involved in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 218, north of Austin Thursday afternoon. Two people were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin with minor injuries.

Three people were injured Thursday afternoon as the result of a three-vehicle crash on Highway 218 just south of Lansing Corners.

Barbarra O’Connor, 77, of Blooming Prairie, Jacqueline Barth, 24, of Austin, and Keith Grunklee, 24, of Owatonna, sustained “non-life threatening” injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Cheryl Krejci, 53, of Blooming Prairie, was not injured. She was the only person in the third vehicle involved.

According to a State Patrol accident report, O’Connor was traveling north on Highway 218 and crossed into the southbound lane, striking Barth’s vehicle head-on. Krejci was traveling southbound and broadsided O’Connor’s car when it came to a rest after hitting Barth’s vehicle.

O’Connor was extricated from her vehicle by the Austin Fire Department and taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
