BP resident returns from six-month tour

Michael Kaufman, of Blooming Prairie and a Navy nuclear engineer, just returned from a six-month tour on the USS Enterprise.

Now that he’s home, he’ll see his wife and his child, who was born in August 2010.
He spent time in around Libya, the Arabian Sea, Iraq and Afghanistan. Kaufman has been in the Navy 10 years, and this was his second active-duty tour. According to his mother, he’d like to spend another 10 years in the Navy.
During his tour, his family got to watch him via live streaming on the Internet. Kaufman’s last tour of duty covered 60,000 miles and served 6,838,482 meals.
Now that Kaufman is home, his family has removed the yellow ribbon from their home. It was their tribute to Kaufman while he was serving the U.S.
