Greyhounds rally past Hastings Hawks 7-5

The Austin Greyhounds racked up 13 hits as they beat the Hastings Hawks 7-5 on the road Wednesday.

Austin pitcher Nels Nelson allowed an early two-run homer and the Hawks scored a run off an error in the fourth to go up 3-0, but Nelson recovered and so did the the Hounds (13-6 overall).

Austin scored five times in the fourth on the strength of an three-run double by Nick Rohne and it never trailed again.

“We came back and rallied and then we rode behind Nels,” Hounds player/manager John Frein said. “He threw well and finished strong.”

John Halverson pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game.

The Hounds will now take a week off as their next game is against Marshall July 8 in Marcusen Park.
