Penny JoAnne Engelman, 31, of Austin, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, as a result of an automobile accident.

Penny was born Dec. 21, 1979, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, Minn. to Timothy and Linda Engelman. She attended Sumner Elementary School, Ellis Middle School and Austin High School. Penny enjoyed disc golf, hack, fishing, swimming, nature center walks, road trips, cruising in her car, reading and most of all she loved her son, Ashton.
Survivors include her son, Ashton Blaze Arends of Owatonna; mother, Linda Engelman of Austin; sister, Brenda Lynn Engelman of Austin; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, Timothy Engelman.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Mayer Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Thursday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
