The Austin boys tennis team lost 5-2 at No. 3 Lakeville North in the first round of the Section 1AA team tournament Tuesday.

The No. 6 seeded Packers (5-8 overall) picked up wins from Bob Sherman at No. 4 singles and Pat Wagner and Tony Lipari at No. 2 doubles.

Austin had a pair of close losses at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

“We shuffled our lineup and we wanted to load up our doubles teams so we could sweep them and win number four singles,” Austin head coach Tom Tauchnitz said. “It just didn’t happen.”

No. 1 Andrew Heickley (A) lost 6-1, 6-1

No. 2 Ben Sherman (A) lost 6-1, 6-0

No. 3 Michael Thorsheim (A) lost 6-4, 6-3

No. 4 Bob Sherman (A) won 1-6, 7-5 (10-3)

No. 1 Josh Detwiler/Joe Urlick (A) lost 6-4, 6-4

No. 2 Pat Wagner/Tony Lipari (A) won 6-4, 4-6 (10-6)

No. 3 Max Coffey/Andrew Striker (A) lost 6-4, 6-2
