Jacqueline Jean Sheedy, 52, of Austin died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Austin Medical Center after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Jackie was born June 30, 1958, in Rochester, to Robert and Jean Fryer. She moved to Austin with her family shortly after her birth where she grew up. She graduated from Pacelli High School in 1976 and went on to Rochester Community College and graduated with her RN degree. She began work at the Austin Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. In October of 1979, she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Sheedy. They then moved to the Sheedy Farm. While raising their three children she enjoyed baking, gardening, needlepoint, bird watching and socializing with her many friends.

Survivors include her husband, Joe of Austin; daughters, Laura of Austin, Joan (Dan) Peterson of Blaine; son, Tim of Austin; parents, Robert and Jean Fryer of Lanesboro; sister-in-law, Liz (Ron) Rysavy of Austin; brothers, Dan (Karen) Fryer, Mike (Turi) Fryer, Pat (Deb) Fryer, Pete (Julie) Fryer, Jim (Jodi) Fryer, Ben Fryer; sisters, Collette (Mike) Koll, Mary (Ken) Semat, Jenny (Jeff) Reinartz; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal and Father Paul Nelson officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Jackie’s brothers. Memorials are preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
