The Hayfield Heat opened their amateur baseball season with a 7-4 win over the Plainview/Elgin/Millville Bucks in Marcusen Park Saturday.

Marty Dick launched a three-run homer in the first inning to put the Heat (1-0 overall) up 3-1 and Hayfield never trailed again.

Kasey Krekling struck out 13 on the mound to pick up the win.

The Heat were originally supposed to lay the game in Hayfield, but due to wet field conditions the contest was moved to Marcusen.
