The Southland softball team had its season end in a 17-15 loss to Wabasha/Kellogg in aSection 1A elimination game at Todd Park Tuesday.

Southland started the day with a 10-2 win over Kenyon/Wanamingo in an elimination game.

Southland had the tying run on first in the top of the seventh against W/K, but Brandi Schammel grounded out to end the contest. Southland also had a runner thrown out at home in a double play that ended the sixth inning.

The Rebels (15-9 overall) opened with a 10-4 lead, but things went south in the fourth when W/K tacked on five runs. The Falcons added eight more runs off of seven hits in the fifth.

W/K’s Raini Staudacher led that frame off with solo homer and Mariah Iverson-Jones, who had three extra base hits and seven RBIs, knocked in three runs with a triple.
