The Riverland baseball team played some of its reserves but it still picked up two wins at Carleton College by scores of 10-4 and 4-3 Monday.

The Blue Devils (26-11 overall) threw four different freshman pitchers in the first game and they combined for eight walks and three hit batters.

Austin grad Brady Klingfus allowed just one walk and struck out two in one and one-thirds of an inning.

“At times all of (the freshman pitchers) looked real good but they struggled at times too,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “Hopefully it was a learning experience for them.”

RCC’s Brad Winkelman and Andrew Schunck hit back-to-back homers in the seventh inning of the first game.

Austin grad Mike Tindal knocked in two runs in the nightcap.

“When Mike gets a chance, he plays well,” Koenigs said.
