The Austin boys tennis team came up a couple of matches short in a 4-3 loss to Rochester John Marshall at Paulson Courts Tuesday.

The Packers (4-7, 2-7 Big Nine) took two of the doubles matches, but Bob Sherman picked up the only singles win at No. 4.

“We just had to be more aggressive and push towards the net and hit them short so they couldn’t get them,” Urlick said.

The Packers have now played three matches in three days and they have another contest against Albert Lea in Austin Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Urlick said fatigue is not a factor and the team is embracing the busy schedule after having a lot of postponements in April.

“With every match we’re improving,” he said. “At the beginning of the season we were a little off, but the last six matches we’ve played really good and it’s working out real well.”

The duo of Urlick and Sherman is 4-5 this season.
