Wilfred L. King, 85, of Adams, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Adams Health Care Center.

King

He was born April 1, 1926, in Adams, MN to Leo and Lena (Meurer) King. He graduated from Adams High School in 1944. Wilfred married Helen Mahl on July 12, 1949, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He worked for the U.S. Postal service for 38 years and retired as Postmaster in 1984.

Willie was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a volunteer fireman for the Adams Fire Department and he also enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his loving wife: Helen King, Adams; children: Martin (Peggy) King, Blaine, Mary (David) Schmeling, Blaine; Leo (Laurie) King, Citrus Heights, Calif.; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother: Art (Marlene) King, Fort Dodge, Iowa; sister: Barbara Runde, McIntire, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Jean King, Mitchell, S.D.;, Clarice King, Rochester, Eileen King, Kasson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Ann Marie, son Donald Robert, brothers Raphael, Herman, and Jerome, and sister Rosemary Eisterhold.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren: Jeffrey King, Michael King, Michelle Groff, Aaron Schmeling, Alexander Schmeling, Eric King, and Matthew King.

Memorials are preferred to the Sacred Heart Catholic School.
