The Southland baseball team had its offense going when it won its season opener 12-6 over Grand Meadow/LeRoy/Ostrander in Kingsland (0-1 overall) Monday.
The Rebels (1-0 overall, 1-0 Three Rivers) found their bats early on, despite the fact that it was their first outside action of the spring.
“I thought we hit the ball pretty well,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “It’s hard to get a feel for it in the gym and there’s certain things you can’t simulate.”
Southland split its pitching duties between Alan May and Trevor Emanuel.
“It was pretty cold and we didn’t want either of them to throw too many pitches,” Retterath said.
Southland pitching: Alan May (W), 4 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 R, 6 K; Trevor Emanuel, 3 IP, 3 H, 4 BB, 4 R, 4 K
