Oakland-Main intersection to close

The intersection of Main Street and Oakland Avenue will close Monday and remain closed for a month while utility work is completed and a new traffic signal is installed.

City Engineer Jon Erichson said westbound traffic will be detoured onto First Street in front of the Fire Department to First Avenue Eastbound traffic will have no detour, as Oakland Avenue is a one-way heading west.

Erichson said the intersection will undergo several utility improvements, including a new water main, storm sewer, concrete pavement and electrical for the new traffic signal. The new signal will be on an interconnect loop with the signals at the Fire Department and the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Fourth Street Northeast.

DETOUR: Westbound traffic: Detour on First Street in front of the Fire Department to First Avenue.
Eastbound traffic: No detour.
