Mary Mae Roeder, 87

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Mary Mae Roeder, 87, a resident of the Assumption Home in Cold Spring, formerly of Waite Park, and Pleasant Lake, who died Saturday, April 9, 2011. The Rev. Vincent Lieser will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday between 4 to 8 p.m. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Parish Prayers will be at 5 p.m. Memorials are preferred. The family would especially like to thank the staffs at Assumption Home in Cold Spring and Heartland Hospice for the extraordinary care given their mother in her time of need.

Mary Roeder

Mary Mae was born June 15, 1923, in Waite Park to Frank and Olivia (Pyka) Spychala. She married Daniel J. Roeder on Aug. 15, 1943, at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Mary Mae lived in the Waite Park area most of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park and St. Agnes Mission Group. Mary Mae enjoyed painting, quilting, crocheting, her flower garden, and spending time at their home on Pleasant Lake. The greatest love of her life was her family.

Survivors include her children, Danna Bechtold (George) of St. Cloud, Kathy Collins (Tom) of Monticello, Nancy Savage (Gary) of Brainerd, Colleen Schaefer (Mark) of Austin, Terrance Roeder (Sandy) of St. Cloud and Frank Roeder (Jeanien) of St. Cloud; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Frank Spychala of St. Stephen, Phyllis Vogt (Al) of Sauk Rapids, Joyce Robak of Waite Park, Wally Spychala of Remer, Rocky Spychala (Micky) of Rice, Carol Lindt of St. Cloud, Sandra Sauer (Bob) of St. Cloud, Russ Spychala (Brenda) of St. Cloud, Gary Spychala (Judy) of Bremerton, Wash., Charlene Skeate (Gary) of St. Cloud, and sister in law, Mary Spychala of St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel, March 5, 2001; infant sister, Delores Spychala; brother, LeRoy Spychala; and sister in law, June Spychala.
