The Lyle/Pacelli girls golf team beat Houston while the boys fell short to the Hurricanes in both squads’ season openers at River Oaks Monday.

The girls won 214-274 while the boys lost 162-213.

Junior Jennie Marx scored a 44 to win the girls medal for the Athletics, although she had just one par on the day.

“Jennie didn’t have any really bad holes and that was a good score for her on the first day,” L/P head coach Mark Buntje said.

Sophomore Kim Krulish shot a career-best score of 63 to lower L/P’s overall team score.

“That was good because we need that fourth score,” Buntje said. “Our top three are pretty consistent so it helps when we get another solid score.”

Dylan Fett led the L/P boys with a 50 and Houston’s Mitchell Beckman won the medal with a 37.
