The Southland softball team couldn’t hold off Lewiston/Altura (5-0 overall) in a 5-4 loss on the road Monday.

The Rebels (5-3 overall, 4-3 Three Rivers) tied the game in the top of the seventh when Holly Goergen doubled and scored on a single by Brandi Schammel, but L/A took advantage of a dropped pop fly with two outs to win it in the bottom of the seventh.

Southland had scored two runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at three.

“We were just starting to get on fire at the plate at the end,” Southland head coach Greg Schulte said.
