Riverland sophomore Brad Winkelman used his arm and his bat to boost the Blue Devils to a two-game sweep over Western Wisconsin Technical College by scores of 4-2 and 11-7 in Riverland Thursday.

Winkelman, who is from Rapid City, S.D., allowed two hits and struck out 11 in the opener and he blasted two three-run homers in the second game to lift RCC (10-9 overall). Winkelman hit a bomb in the fourth to put his team up 8-7 and he hit another in the fifth to make it 11-7.

“Brad pitched a great game in the opener and he was really pounding the strike zone,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “Then he hit two deep homers in the second game and hopefully he’s out of his hitting slump now.”

Kyal Williams was 5-for-6 with three doubles for RCC and Renne Araujo was 4-for-6 on the day.
