Awards are becoming somewhat of a routine for the Hy-Vee in Austin.

Austin Hy-Vee store director Todd Hepler announced the supermarket received Hy-Vee’s “Store of the Quarter” award for the Midwest region for the 10th time in the past 13 quarters. Hepler said they beat 47 other stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois for Hy-Vee’s top award, and were also named “Store of the Year” the past three years.

“It’s what every store director dreams of; being able to go up in front of your brothers and sisters at Hy-Vee and say you’re doing a good job,” Hepler said.

The award is based on performance in 10 categories, including sales, customer service and inventory, but Hepler said it’s as much about their customers as it is their employees.

“(Our customers) are so loyal to us,” he said. “It shows people are shopping a store that gives back to our customers. They’re what make us No. 1.”
