BRECKENRIDGE, Minn. (AP) — Three 17-year-old boys whose boat capsized on the Otter Tail River were fine after being rescued by Minnesota and North Dakota authorities.
The boys were hunting Monday night when their boat hit a log and capsized, dumping them into the river east of Breckenridge in Minnesota’s Wilkin County. The Sheriff’s Department says none of the boys was wearing a life jacket, though they did have chest waders.
One boy managed to swim to shore and call authorities in the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area, while the other two climbed onto a log. The boys were rescued, treated at the scene for hypothermia and allowed to go home.
