Lois I. Erickson, 98, of Venice, FL entered eternal rest on March 22, 2011.

She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Austin, Minn., to Lars and Anna (Rawn) Erickson.Lois was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jay, Harry, Lafayette, and Chester; sisters, Mable Armstrong and Helen Aiton. The family purchased a farm five miles west of Cohasset, Minn., in 1918. Lois obtained a teaching certificate in 1932 upon completing two years of preparation in Duluth. She began teaching in School District Number One, Itasca County, Grand Rapids, Minn. In 1942, with her father dead and her siblings all married and scattered, Lois and her mother sold the farm and moved back to Austin. Lois, upon her mother’s death, moved to Bethesda, Md., and continued teaching elementary school. In 1959, she completed the course requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland.

Lois is survived by niece, Peggy Hein of Austin, Texas; nephew, Kenneth Erickson of San Antonio, Texas; also numerous great-great-great-nieces and nephews. Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, in the family burial plot. Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory, Venice Chapel, is handling arrangements.
