Irene Beatrice Filley, 100

Irene Beatrice Filley, 100, of Blooming Prairie, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Prairie Manor.
She was born March 9, 1910, to Ingebret and Betsy (Egtvedt) Christianson in rural Blooming Prairie where she grew up and attended country school. She married Emmit Filley on Dec. 3, 1929. They made their home on a farm northeast of Blooming Prairie. Irene worked at the hemp mill in Blooming Prairie during World War II. Emmit passed away on June 16, 1977. Irene kept the books for NFO, volunteered at Prairie Manor, liked puzzles, flowers, playing cards and games and belonged to the Senior Center.
Survivors include three children, Donna Schmoll of Claremont, Buena LaMaack of Hayfield, Myrna (Melvin) Schmoll of Claremont; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Clinton (Adeline) Christianson; sister-in-law, Frieda Christianson, all of Blooming Prairie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmit; six brothers, Berthel, Paul, Leon, Nordeen, Raymond and Kenneth; two sisters, Borghild and Ruby; daughter, Nola Trom; granddaughter, Susan Schmoll; sister-in-law, Avis Christianson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 7, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation is at the church one hour prior to the service. Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment is at Blooming Prairie Cemetery.
