Barbara Ann Beck Hedberg, 84, of Bloomington, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at North Memorial Hospice in Robbinsdale, Minn.

Barbara was born March 25, 1926, in Austin, to Edward and Magdalena (Wendel) Beck. She was valedictorian at St. Augustine High School and earned her Master’s degree in liturgical music from Notre Dame University. She was choral director at Visitation Church in Minneapolis from 1974 to 2006 and worked in social services from 1972 to 1995. Barbara’s passions in life included music, education and animals.
She is survived by her son, Jared (Kris) Hedberg Jr. of Minneapolis; friend, Deanna Nickerson of Bloomington; brothers, Bob Beck of Austin, Paul Beck of San Fransisco; many nieces; nephews; extended family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jared Hedberg Sr.; parents, Edward and Magdalena.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Visitation Church, 4530 Lyndale Ave. S, Minneapolis with Father Thomas F.A. O’Brien officiating.
Cremation Society of Minnesota is in charge of arrangements.
