The Austin girls basketball team lost its regular season finale 77-72 at Albert Lea (4-19 overall, 4-13 Big Nine) in AL Friday.

The Packers (9-15 overall, 7-11 Big Nine) allowed Tigers’ center Alyssa Sager to put up 28 points and 27 rebounds.

“The goal was to hold her under ten points,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “There’s no way (28 points and 27 rebounds) should happen.”

Austin missed 21 free throws and was out-rebounded 43-23.

“They came out with a higher intensity than us and they wanted it more than us,” Peterson said.

The game was tied at 31 at the break.

Austin will open the postseason Wednesday and it will likely be on the road.
