Joe Lewison’s family and friends have found a way to celebrate his life through his favorite activity — snowmobiling.

There will be a memorial ride and auction Saturday, Feb. 12, to raise money for the Lewison family and for the scholarship the family hopes to begin in his name.

Lewison, a senior at Pacelli High School, was killed Feb. 1 after the truck he was driving collided with a train south of Austin.

The memorial ride will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Woody’s Bar and Grill. The route is still yet to be determined, but the group will end up back at Woody’s around 4 p.m. where the benefit auction will take place.

Mary Lewison, Joe’s mother, said area snowmobile retailers are donating gear and accessories to be auctioned off after the ride.

There is no cost to participate in the ride. All proceeds from the auction and donations will go to the family and a memorial fund.
