The Lyle/Pacelli girls basketball team had some self inflicted problems in a 63-54 loss to Hope Lutheran (11-6 overall, 10-6 SEC) in Pacelli Gym Friday.

The Athletics (12-6 overall, 11-4 SEC) missed 18 free throws and they had their top two scorers miss a lot of minutes due to foul trouble.

“We really let one get away,” L/P head coach Brad Walter said.

Ann Rysavy, who scored 14 points, and Courtney Walter, who scored 24, both sat with three fouls for much of the first half as Hope Lutheran ran up a 42-19 lead at the break.

“Them being out put a damper on our ability to be effective on the offensive end,” Walter said. “We just need to be smart after getting that second foul and it’s something I’ve talked about a lot with the team. We need them out there and they can’t get that third foul (in the first half).”

L/P scoring: Courtney Walter, 24; Ann Rysavy, 14; Madison Truckenmiller, 10; Maggie Lewison, 3; Lauren Rieker, 2; Whitney Hinz, 1; free throws: 28 percent (7-for-25)
