Winhawks top Packer boys

The Austin boys hockey team lost at Winona 6-2 Thursday.

The Packers (2-8 overall, 1-6 Big Nine) trailed 4-0 in the second but Jaret Retterath and Tyler Stevens each scored in a two-minute span to close the gap.

Winona put the game away with two goals in the third, but Austin had its chances to get closer.

“Josh Hart had three breakaways and Devin McCune had two,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said. “If we keep playing like this, we’ll get some wins.”Dylan Hoium and Marcus Stoulil had assists for Austin and Rainer Londino-Green had 35 saves.

The Packers attempted 26 shots.
