Bill came to Austin from Rochester in 1955 where he was an Independent Insurance Agent for 40 years — the last 25 years in partnership with Dave Reynen and Loren Capretz. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, a chartered property and casualty underwriter, a past president of the Austin Rotary Club and the 1978 Austin City Open champion.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Strifert; daughter, Kim Strifert (David); son, Buck Strifert (Julie); granddaughters, Stephanie Strifert and Margo Strifert and sister, Nancy Miller (Dick).

A private memorial service will be held. Memorials should be sent to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, MN 55155.
