Packers swimmers take sixth at home

The Austin boys swimming and diving team finished sixth out of nine teams at the Packer Invite at Ellis Middle School Saturday.
Austin tallied 207 points, while first place Northfield finished with 424.
Senior Michael Thorsheim had a standout day for Austin as he took first in the 100-yard individual medley and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly.
Thorsheim’s time of 2:09.29 in the individual medley, which was his fastest this season, is just a couple of a tenths of a second off the state cut time.

“That’s great for this early in the season,” Austin head coach Lynn Gulbrandson said.
Nick Brehmer took third in the 200-yard freestyle for Austin.
