The Austin boys hockey team played a solid third period to edge out La Crescent (4-6-1 overall) 4-2 in Riverside Arena Tuesday.
The Packers (3-8 overall) scored three times in the third as Preston Moe and Dylan Hoium each scored goals in the first three minutes of the period to take a 3-1 lead.
Ethan Larson added an empty netter to make it 4-2 at the end of the game.
Marcus Stoulil scored Austin’s first goal in the first, but the Austin offense stalled after that.
“We kind of let them stay in the game and did a lot of watching for two periods,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said. “In the third, we finished out the game and got the win. The whole team played well.”
Sophomore goalie Rainer Londino-Green had 40 saves for Austin, which attempted 38 shots in the win.
Josh Hart had two assists for the Packers, while Josh Detwiler, Tyler Stevens, Devin McCune and Moe all had one assist.
