The Hayfield boys basketball team missed out on some late chances in a 50-45 loss at La Crescent Tuesday.

The Vikings (6-2 overall, 0-1 HVL) had the ball down one late it the game but couldn’t convert.

“We missed a couple of shots we would normally make,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said.

Hayfield had led 25-16 late in the first half, but the Lancers (4-5 overall) responded with a 16-4 run to take over. Bobbie Stephens hit one of his five threes to give Hayfield a lead with nine minutes to go, but Calvin Waller, who had 23 points and scored his 1,000th point for La Crescent, responded with a trey.
