Effie Lou Willson, 90 of Austin, died at Austin Medical Center Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.

She was born Dec. 10, 1920, to James Daniel and Lanta (Hastings) Trent in Seat Pleasant, Md. She married Calvern Warren Willson on May 22, 1953, in Austin, where they spent their entire married life.

A member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Effie Lou was active in Women’s Fellowship and Dorcas Sewing Circle. She also volunteered at the Salvation Army noon lunches and St. Olaf Hospital Auxiliary. A very patriotic person, Effie Lou liked Flag Day and collected patriotic memorabilia. She enjoyed flea markets, garage sales and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Lou Willson of Austin; sons, Daniel (Lori) Willson of Muskegon, Mich. and James (Robin) Willson of Vallejo, Calif.; grandchildren, Kevin and Kate; siblings: Maureen LeCato of Charleston, S.C; Marjorie Lauver of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; Philip Tree Summer; James (Lois) Trent of Lexington Park, Md.; Suzanne (Carl) Corley of Virginia Beach, Va.; nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Kenneth and Yvonne Bell of Austin and special friends, Richard and Anne Waldman of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at First Congregational UCC in Austin with Rev. Elizabeth Endicott officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
